Maunday Thursday – A Day of Two Faiths

Today is a special day in the calendars for both Christians and Jews alike. For Christians, it’s the holy day which marks the last supper between Jesus and his Apostiles in the Garden of Gethsemane (which is still there today after more than 2000 years). It’s also a special day for Jews who celebrate the Passover when the angel of death passed by houses belonging to enslaved Jews under the Egyptian empire. Any doorposts marked with blood (of a slaughtered spring lamb) were spared.
